Finding the right TOG rating and dressing your baby appropriately for the temperature can be confusing. Every baby feels hot and cold differently, ambient temperatures fluctuate, and layering impacts thermal effectiveness. It's not a one-size-fits-all approach, but understanding these factors can help.
At Love to Dream we use the industry-recognised measurement system, called TOG. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and helps simplify the process of choosing the right garment/s for your baby. Put simply: The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric.
The clothing guide link below provides with guidelines around how to dress your baby/toddler based on the room temperature. It is only a guide. All babies are different. The number of clothing layers may vary according to a baby’s health, their physiology, and the room temperature in the room. The caregiver must determine what is suitable. We recommend that carers always monitor the temperature of the room & the child’s comfort. It is important to check your baby regularly to ensure that they are comfortable and that they do not overheat.

Our unique DreamStretch™ fabrics offer high-quality stretch for comfort and freedom of movement at every stage. Durable and made for many nights of comfort.
A winter saviour. With a natural fill providing breathable insulation, stretch cotton outer and inner layer, the fabric feels soft and smooth against sensitive skin whilst offering warmth (without weight) and comfort in cooler months. Quilting adds a thoughtful design detail and extra comfort, offering plushness without bulk.
Our detachable wings allow you to expose one arm at a time. This makes the transition from swaddling to independent sleep easy – without disturbing your baby's (or your own!) precious sleep.
Our collection is available in various TOG ratings, so you can focus on your baby's developmental stage – not the temperature. Whether it's a heat wave or a cold snap, we have the right weight to keep your baby comfortably warm. Read our handy TOG guide for more information.
The familiar Swaddle Up™ fit with a snug torso helps maintain the soothing benefits of swaddling while giving your baby the necessary freedom of movement for a safe transition to independent, armless sleeping.

Tested to withstand up to 100 washes, maintaining its shape and fit for long-lasting use.
The transition from swaddling can be challenging – that's why the Swaddle Up™ Transition Swaddle Bag was developed to make this developmental step easier. It offers the same cozy and secure feeling as swaddling and features removable wings that allow you to gradually let your baby sleep with their arms free – all at their own pace.
Follow these three simple steps for a safe transition:
If your baby shows one or more of these signs, it's time to transition to sleeping with their arms free. These signs typically appear between 2 and 6 months of age.
It's time to stop swaddling as soon as your baby shows signs of being able to roll over. Other signs include lifting their legs, pushing themselves up with their hands while on their tummy, or reaching for their feet. At this stage, it's safer to gradually transition to a sleep solution that allows free arms.
The Swaddle Up™ Transition Sleeping Bag makes the transition from swaddling easier. It features a versatile 2-in-1 design with removable wings, allowing you to move from swaddling to sleeping with free arms. You can start by removing one wing, leaving one arm free, and a few nights later, the second. Once both wings are removed, it becomes a sleeveless sleeping bag that provides a familiar sleeping experience while allowing for safe, free movement.
Your baby is ready for arm-free sleep once they show signs of being able to roll over. They might lift their legs, prop themselves up on their hands while on their tummy, or reach for their feet.
At this stage, it's safer to switch to an arm-free sleep solution.
